Product Details
Merk: Pierre Malingre

A millesime Champagne from the top shelf! The nose is refined but also generous with fine notes of honeyed pralines. The mouthfeel is fresh dry and minty with also brioche notes with buttery flavors that have developed with elegance. It is a refined and fruity Champagne with a lot of richness. The dominant Chardonnay grape provides exceptional length.
After inheriting the plots from their ancestors, Pierre and Simone Malingre, newly married in 1950, moved to our current Champagne House. They tried to rebuild the vineyard after the destruction of the Second World War. When the family press was destroyed, they joined the Trigny-Prouilly cooperative in 1957 to sell their products.
Since the 1970s, their son Claude and his wife Nicole, originally from Trigny, have contributed to the expansion and modernization of the vineyard. The first bottles of champagne were sold in 1972 under the name of our grandfather «Champagne Pierre MALINGRE»! Today they have passed on their know-how to their daughter Jane and her husband Frederic.
Champagne Pierre MALINGRE is found in the small village of Prouilly, in the heart of the Massif de St Thierry. Their vineyard extends over 9 hectares on approximately 30 plots in the villages of Prouilly, Trigny, Gueux and Janvry. The oldest were planted in 1973. They grow the 3 Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir. The vines are grown respecting traditions, terroir and the environment.
In 2023 they achieved certification for sustainable viticulture in Champagne. They recognize the need to take action and protect their vineyard and heritage. They haven't used insecticides for over 20 years! Their plots are cultivated on south/southeast oriented hills, on sandy and clayey limestone soils. Manual work keeps them busy in the vineyards all year round! The grapes are picked by hand to ensure that only the best are selected and quickly transferred to the press to ensure optimal quality.
In Old French, Prouilly was called 'Provinicicelliacus', which means 'Close to the little vine'.
